IT Training
Posted by : Molly Joss
Dear Molly: I keep reading about how many people are going for IT training these days. I've been doing computer support for a few years now and part of my job is holding small training seminars on Microsoft Office applications and on how to use a computer. I'm finding I like doing this kind of stuff more and more, and I think I'd like to do it full-time. How can I find out more about becoming a professional, full-time IT trainer and where I might get hired?
Molly says: Great! The IT world needs more people who like to teach others about computers. To find out more about how to become a full-time trainer with certified (and valuable) credentials for training, visit the International Association of Information Technology Trainers Web site.
Professional IT trainers work for independent training organizations, which are usually for-profit ventures or the training arms of colleges and universities. Some even go out on their own and hire themselves out to local businesses. To find out which training organizations in your area might be worth talking to about a job, ask around to find out who offers the best IT training in your area and put these companies at the top your list of possible employers. Reading through a few back issues of the local business journals published in your area should also provide you with company names for your list.
